DAY-II-EDUCATIONAL THEORIES
Explored about learning theories.
I am familiar with Behaviorism,Cognitivism,,Constructivism and Connectivism.
I have read in detail about about Vygostky's Social constructivism but to me MASLOW'S approach was quite new. He studied human behaviours and concluded his findings in the form of Hierarchy of Needs. For effective and long lasting learning experiences basic needs must be satisfied.
During the last couple of years a drastic change is seen in the teaching and learning styles.

Tide of technology has brought tsunami in the education system. Old traditional lecture style, discussion, rote memorization has been replaced by the terms, Active learning, Cooperative learning and ICT.

As a 21st Centaury teacher we have to review and revise the teaching style to fulfill the needs of the learners. To make them global citizens we should engage them in healthy activities. Presently teachers round the globe are frequently using the following styles to enhance and support learning.

Active Learning. Meyers and Jones (1993) define active learning as learning environments that allow students to talk and listen, read, write, and reflect as they approach course content through problem-solving exercises, informal small groups, simulations, case studies, role playing, and other activities -- all of which require students to apply what they are learning.

Cooperative Learning. Cooperative Learning is a systematic pedagogical strategy that encourages small groups of students to work together for the achievement of a common goal. The term 'Collaborative Learning' is often used as a synonym for cooperative learning when, in fact, it is a separate strategy that encompasses a broader range of group interactions such as developing learning communities, stimulating student/faculty discussions, and encouraging electronic exchanges (Bruffee, 1993).

Integrating Technology. Today, educators realize that active learning and cooperative learning can best be achieved by integrating technology and for this computer literacy is an important part of a student's education.  It has been found the appropriate use of technology further enhances and extends the learning outcomes.
